PROJECT BRIEF
'Apollo' is a collection featuring two hand- stitched, hand-embellished, free-sized self-tye, garments made utilising minimal pattern-making and garment construction. The garments are self-dyed using Direct Dye on cotton fabric, and embellished using gold tube-beads of two sizes.
The collection derives inspiration from Apollo, the Olympian reek god of the sun, light, music, medicine and prophecies. Hence, the colour palette consists of rich white and gold hues, paired with shades of pastel blue, and motifs are direct depictions of the sun and the god's attributes.
The shapes of the garments are determined by the costume of Ancient Greek Era, drawing heavily from the unstructured silhouettes that relied upon the chosen style of fabric draping and self- tying, as in a Chiton and Péplos.
