where a quiet mind is rarer than a unicorn!
Picture this : me, a nap enthusiast and extraordinaire - selectively dodging the siren call of ideas, the irresistible temptation of artistic endeavors and their combined schemes to keep me awake. This digital- lair- slash- time- capsule is more than just an online portfolio seeking to document my creative undertakings over the years; it is a virtual record of the circus that is my mind, where ideas party like there's no tomorrow, keeping me wide-eyed with curious concepts.
The story of House of No Sleep kicked off during my tumultuous undergraduate days at National Institute of Fashion Technology- studying Textile Design, a lawfully chaotic time when design assignments rained down like confetti and submission deadlines loomed overhead. In the midst of the inspired, coffee-powered, academic-validation-seeking mayhem that college was, House of No Sleep was born.
The curtains closed on the chapter of university in 2020, but the circus didn't fold its tents. Instead, the frenzied energy that once propelled me through completing assignments now found a home in the professional realm at Chumbak Design Pvt Ltd as a wide-eyed intern on the Home & Interiors team where the illustration mages guided me as I took my first steps and completed my Graduation Project.
Fast forward a few months, the career path led me to Moj (ShareChat, Mohalla Tech Pvt Ltd). Here, as I switched titles to Illustrator & Graphic Designer, I danced with maestros specializing in domains ranging from Product & Engineering to Marketing, Social Media and Creator Ecosystem, where I was charged with recurring quests of maintaining and expanding the library of illustrated assets, social media dazzle and logo wizardry for online and offline everts. I got to sprinkle some magic on in-app zero/null states, Creator Gamification and Moj Blue!
And if that wasn't enough excitement for one lifetime, I hitched a ride on the literary rollercoaster with Penguin Random House - South East Asia. As a Freelance Book Cover Designer, I've waved my creative wand over more than 10 titles—and let's not forget that one epic catalogue! Diving into the minds of authors and conjuring up artwork concepts in order to bring the worlds their creation to life, every project has been a voyage through the pages of imagination!
...And of course I stopped on the way to offer prayers at the shrine of Tumblr with an app icon redesign, following the doctrine of "weird and wonderful". But whether that was before or after the Creative Gaga x HP India Cover Design Challenge remains a mystery; awaiting its reveal in the bard's tales. Most recently, the woods engulfed in nostalgia brought me face-to-face with Bajaj Chetak and their New Year'24 celebrations.
Through the journey so far, my approach to design has been (-and continues to be) kaleidoscopic- History and Psychology join forces in a delightful symphony, guided by Fine Art and a starburst of unrestrained passion. My mission? To craft original artworks that not only reflect the ever-changing trends and aesthetic, but can also moonwalk seamlessly onto a variety of products and platforms, making each artwork as versatile as a chameleon at a costume party.
What began as a coping mechanism in academia evolved into a unique professional identity and a supposed superpower – a badge of resilience and relentless creativity in spite of any and every challenge, turning the mundane into delightful adventures.
From navigating intricate tasks armed with a flashlight fueled by curiosity and the skillful finesse of an acrobat, to juggling multiple projects with the precision of a seasoned ringmaster, the journey continues to be a thrilling rollercoaster. So here it is: House of No Sleep, a unique blend of creativity sprinkled with neurodivergent flair, and a track record of turning sleepless, idea-driven nights into successful quests.
